redbird: closeup of me drinking tea, in a friend's kitchen (Default)

I'm looking at a United States coin, dated this year. On the reverse is a picture of a bison.

It's not a nickel.

It's the Kansas state quarter; the bison is accompanied by a few flowers and the text "Kansas 1861" [statehood date--I looked it up].

It would bother me less if they weren't also issuing new nickels with bison on the reverse.

([livejournal.com profile] quility, I think you'd like it--it's a reasonably nice bison, albeit small.)

The right shoulder is hurting some, again; also, my left upper arm is making unhappy twinges, suggestive of overuse, perhaps from trying to spare the right arm. Worse, I've been having difficulty getting myself to do the strengthening exercises (I just completed them for this evening), which is going to delay healing, even if it doesn't lead to a nasty feedback loop.

I suspect that the shortness of breath I posted about yesterday is just a cold; I've been sneezing quite a bit, and it's feeling like post-nasal drip. [livejournal.com profile] elissaann, I may be feeling up to spending time with people tomorrow, but I have no idea of how contagious this is, and I wouldn't want to infect you--or anyone, but a sore throat is a larger hardship for you than for most of my other friends.

Between that and the damp weather (from fog in the morning to, now, heavy rain) I've mostly sat inside today, which may be connected to my feeling a bit down now. I may have to try the gym tomorrow, for mood as much as strengthening.
