redbird: photo of the SF Bay bridges, during rebuilding after an earthquate (bay bridges)

I'm feeling oddly protective at the moment. I always want my loved ones to be safe--but it's a stronger impulse than usual right now, despite not having any specific reason to think most of them need more care or protection than usual. It also seems to be extending, more than usual, to people I like but don't know all that well.

I'm posting this mostly for my own reference, as a reminder to keep an eye on those impulses.

It's also possible that I will work some of this out by sending people small presents, packets of tea or such.

I think my cell phone may be dead.

We were worried a couple of nights ago, because it was turning itself off and on repeatedly after [livejournal.com profile] cattitude accidentally spilled some liquid on it. But I took the battery out for a while, to let it dry, and it seemed fine all day today.

Just now, it made the "I am turning myself off" sound again, while plugged in to the charger. I tried turning it on, and got no response. I unplugged it, and tried again. Still nothing.

In the morning, I may try swapping in the battery from Cattitude's old phone of the same model, and then look into replacement hardware. (The latter decision, at least, requires more mental functioning than I have handy right now.)

I mention this mostly so that people won't expect to reach me via the mobile (646) number right now.
