redbird: drawing of a coelacanth (coelacanth)
( Sep. 15th, 2005 10:34 am)
I reached into my backpack a few minutes ago (looking for a tampon) and, in rummaging around the bottom of it, found what appears to be a bus ticket from Swansea to Killay, dated 30 May 2000. I bought this backpack this summer, and the only book I'm carrying in it this spring.

I'm glad I got to spend time on the Gower before [livejournal.com profile] papersky and [livejournal.com profile] zorinth left Swansea and, with [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel, introduced me to Montreal.

I'd been contemplating getting two or three coelacanths in the tattoo, but I've spent some time researching coelacanth behavior. It seems that while they congregate in caves during the day, when they're out swimming around and foraging they're solitary. One fish it is, then.

I understand that people want to comfort the afflicted. I understand that people want to make it better. "I love you" is a good way to do that. "You are welcome in my home and to my family," is another good one. "If you need money, please don't hesitate to ask" is pretty useful too.

redbird: a butterfly, wings folded, resembling the letter V (letter v)
( Sep. 15th, 2005 04:16 pm)
This is a palm leaf, photographed in India, that I found on the Butterfly alphabet website. I don't particularly like the available butterfly V's. I'm not sure if that's a butterfly pretending it's a palm leaf, or a leaf pretending it's a butterfly.

If I had anything better to do, this would count as cat-vacuuming.
