redbird: closeup of me drinking tea, in a friend's kitchen (Default)

At the instant, [livejournal.com profile] julian_tiger is sitting cozily on my lap. Half an hour ago, he was on top of the refrigerator, where I hadn't seen him in a while, and happy to play with a magnet when I put one in reach. He's also been bouncing up on the dining room doorframe again. I think the cooler weather agrees with him; he was on top of the wardrobe yesterday morning, in the air conditioned bedroom (it's currently 21°C out, so we're back to open windows and fans).

I'd been thinking that he wasn't jumping up as much because he's got more cat to lift or push with the same amount of muscle (he's filled out a bit since we got him), but he's still got that bounce in him. This may not be an unalloyed good: I'd been thinking that at least the new kitchen timer that [livejournal.com profile] lisajulie sent us would be safe on the refrigerator door. Still, I can buy a new timer every few months if I have to: the hard part is keeping up with a bouncy cat when my dominant shoulder needs tender care.

It's 18°C outside and we're running the air conditioner. There's something wrong with this apartment.

([livejournal.com profile] cattitude helpfully points out "Yes. It's too hot. That's easy." What it mostly is, is too humid, but AC will do some good against that as well.)
