I seem to be allergic to something that's in bloom right now. That, at least, was my tentative conclusion from the pattern of my coughing and sneezing (which went away completely when I went downtown--there's far less pollen in Midtown, Chinatown, or Downtown Brooklyn than up here next to Inwood Hill Park--and then came back when I got home). But it's triggered a nasty cough, which another patient at my GP's yesterday said sounded like her bronchitis.

I have had bronchitis before, so it seems plausible that something like this could have triggered a relapse. I really don't want the bronchitis to turn into something worse. So, I'll take it easy for a bit: walk slowly, maybe skip the gym altogether (given my difficulty in limiting myself to a light workout), and do my necessary paperwork and online editing.

Addendum: I feel almost okay as long as I do nothing more strenuous than walk around the apartment and occasionally make tea. (There's a tickly feeling in my throat, but that's it.) This makes me want to do more strenuous things, which is a Bad Idea right now.

CSIRO is claiming to have produced a transgenic blue rose, though the fact sheet admits it's more of a "pale mauve-blue." They're hoping for bluer roses in the future, if they can reduce the acidity of the petals.

This rose is at least three years away from the commercial market in Australia, pending approval from the office that regulates transgenic organisms. [via [livejournal.com profile] wordweaverlynn] No photos, alas.

I talked to one of the staff at my GP's office. She checked my chart, and the doctor has written down tendonitis as a diagnosis. Which makes sense, since she recommended/prescribed ice, ibuprofen, and motion without weight.
