Last night, I asked [livejournal.com profile] cattitude to wake me when he got up, so I could head out and go to the gym this morning. He did, I got up, we did the usual morning stuff--shower, coffee and tea, yogurt for me (protein is good)--and headed out.

After about a block, it became clear that the neck muscle I'd strained yesterday when I stumbled on the stair was not, in fact, recovered: it had been okay around the house, but not with a backpack on. So much for that plan. I walked with Cattitude, pointing out a few daffodils and such under the chill gray sky, then came home and took my pack off. I have taken an ibuprofen and made a second mug of tea, but I am annoyed.

Following [livejournal.com profile] elisem's lead, I have gone through my rubber stamp collection, and sorted into a small pile of "keep, I may use these again someday" and a larger pile of "see what I can get on eBay".

Before I do that, however, two of these may have specific people's names on them; if I'm correct, I'd like to give them to you, in the knowledge that they'll have found good homes with my friends.

  • [livejournal.com profile] papersky, would you like a rather nice maple leaf, in a square about two centimeters on a side?

  • [livejournal.com profile] baldanders, how about three elephants walking in a row? If you want to compare with what you and [livejournal.com profile] roadnotes already have, it's about two inches long, the image on the top is in dark purple, and the label says "414E Elephant Border."

Remember, the point isn't to build the new Jerusalem, crusade for utopia, or establish a libertarian paradise. The point is to get rid of these bastards and re-establish normal American politics, with all the usual compromises, dissemblings, backroom deals, and other moral misdemeanors that implies. All of which is one hell of an improvement on the rule of unfettered Might Makes Right, which is what we're on our way to right now.—Patrick Nielsen Hayden (in a comment thread on Making Light)
