I left a message for the potential employer yesterday late afternoon, asking for an update. When I came back from the gym this afternoon, I found a message on my machine: no news, because he's waiting on some budgetary stuff. About what I'd thought, but I think it's a good sign that he called back, and fairly promptly.
The workout itself went well; I took it a little easy on lower-body stuff, although the groin aches were gone completely this morning. ( numbers, as usual )
It being that sort of weather, I went down to NY Noodletown for duck congee for lunch. I shared a table with a Chinese man, somewhat older than me, who looked startled when they put the bowl down in front of me, because he thought at first it was his; he'd been there longer and was still waiting. His--which looked to be pork and thousand-year-old-egg congee, and didn't come with the nice diced scallions--arrived a minute later. We spoke, a little: he asked if I liked Chinese food, and I said "Absolutely" and commented that it was good weather for congee, then we ate, and he said goodbye when he left.
