redbird: closeup of me drinking tea, in a friend's kitchen (Default)

I left the house when [livejournal.com profile] cattitude did this morning: he went off to his fine new job, and I went to finish off a short temp project for [livejournal.com profile] quility's now-ex-employer. Four and a quarter hours of data entry today to finish it off, or just enough that I wouldn't have been done Friday afternoon even if I had gone in instead of hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] eleanor longer. I also had a fine, cheap lunch at a hole-in-the-wall Chinese place: ignoring the menu and looking at what was there, I asked for "rice, broccoli and mushrooms, duck" and they happily put those together. With a can of ginger ale, it came to $4.75. (I'd given the same place $1.80 for two different buns and a cup of tea for breakfast.)

And now I'm home, still coughing and sneezing, alas, but I have rye bread.

At one point last night--I think via a discussion of Scotland, kilts, and my observation that I think anyone, regardless of their gender, who wants to wear skirts should be able to--a few of us were discussing whether [livejournal.com profile] dglenn or [livejournal.com profile] the_gardener has better legs. This was surreal because I think I was the only person in the conversation who has actually met both of those people.
