A fairly good workout:

gym numbers )

The dentist started by asking after "your boyfriend", and expressed complete bewilderment when I said something like "He's fine, he was just in for a root canal." By the time I'd pointed out that [livejournal.com profile] cattitude has an appointment later this week, he'd given up, asked his name, and pulled the chart to refresh his memory. He then told me how wonderful Cattitude is, and that I'm very lucky, which I was happy to agree with.

Then he had his assistant take X-rays, and started cleaning my teeth while they developed. It was more painful, and therefore slower, than usual (I had to ask for more breaks). I have no cavities, but (several hours later) my teeth hurt, and the ginger snaps I bought this afternoon are going to have to wait until tomorrow. I've taken some aspirin, but even eating rice was painful--though at that point the aspirin hadn't had time to take effect--so tonight's dessert has been small pieces of Maya Gold chocolate, melting on my tongue without chewing.

(This started as a comment in [livejournal.com profile] papersky's journal, in a discussion of writing-in-progress and using the actual weather outside her window.)

If I stick with the timespan on the current draft, I'm stuck with some things about the weather. Then again, the probably-completely-irrelevant thing I came up with as a "working title" (because there's a slot for it on the Nanowrimo Web site) is based on last winter's mild weather. ("Snapdragon Winter", because (a) it was, I had flowers straight through, and (b) it sounds good. But it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the book I'm actually writing. Or, at the moment, not-writing, in between not-revising on the paid nonfiction project, and jotting down probably-useless bits of overheard conversation at the gym.)

Excuse me, this is going to have to be a journal entry of my own, as well as a comment here.
