I have sent out my Turbo zine, and I have applied for a job--a tech writer position, via HotJobs. I wrote a cover letter explaining that I'm hoping to move into the field, and would be interested in any technical writing or editing positions they have open.

There are other things I would like to do today, but even if I laze about, fiddle with the Wikipedia, play Scrabble, and don't go to the gym or anything, I have Done Useful Things. It is not a wasted day, and I am a Good hobbit.

  • We played "follow the eagle" for a while this afternoon. This means wandering around on the ground as necessary to watch the bird soaring overhead; the game is played until the eagle vanishes behind a hill or, in this case, in the trees.

  • I found a pair of silver earrings I'd forgotten about: they're seashells, with a tiny rhinestone or something on one edge, hanging on long chains; I think they're by Laurie Edison. I'm wearing them now.

  • For about half an hour, we had a locust sitting on the window screen. We thought at first it might be dead, and then it started buzzing. It's flown off now.

  • An airline whose email list I'd fallen off (because I was getting the offers at work) mailed me a spiffy blue bouncy ball, with a note asking me to sign up again.
