it's too hot. and the shift function on my keyboard seems to be broken. both shift keys, so it's probably not a sticky or broken key, and i've already tried power cycling it. so, no html, and thus no emphases--no parentheses or asterisks either. feh.

I have seen one count it one pretty rocket blossom on the northern horizon. Heard lots of explosions, but saw only the one.
Also someone playing with a sparkler on the sidewalk on Second Avenue, but that was yesterday, and I couldn't quite figure out if he was intoxicated or trying to sell the things. (If I'd been more awake myself, it might have been clearer.)
But when we went out before, the park was full of fireflies and people playing with bright-colored glowsticks. My favorite was the kid who had wrapped it around the hub of a bicycle wheel, so it spun as she rode along.
