Maybe it was the walking.

Yesterday, we met [livejournal.com profile] eleanor for dim sum, then walked back to her apartment and basically hung out. We went around the block with her exuberant puppy (40 pounds of exuberant puppy, an animal with a varied and active social life), and took the shuttle bus to the Amish Market (so I now have scallions to put in tonight's lamb patties, and duck sausage to do something with later), and then went back, and Greg cooked dinner, which we ate, and then we came home and fell into bed.

And I am tired, and my muscles are still stiff. Not gyming today, probably doing almost nothing. (Andy is also tired, but is talking of comic books and other shopping.)

Can I blame it on Wiscon, still?

Lightning, thunder, much water, and much wind. Boom, flash, whoosh! Cat had to run and hide.

When it was over, Andy went outside, and came back with the special emergency snapdragon report: many of the flowers I'd planted yesterday had been knocked over and pulled out of their holes.

I went out right after dinner, trowel in hand, and did my best to fix it: taking advantage of the wet soil to dig deeper holes, tuck the flowers in, and bed them down again. It might have been okay to wait until morning, or it might not. Best to fix things right away. (A philosophy I would do well to apply more broadly than to snapdragons.)

Last year's plants, covered in bright flowers, were mostly leaning way over under the weight of all the water, but will probably recover: they have solid root systems by now. I shook some of the water off, and did my best to stop them from leaning heavily on each other.
