The thing about using two hit counters on my Web page(s) is that I no longer trust either of them. So I go along and keep the Weblog, confident that at least a few friends are reading it--and a stranger or two, based on emails I've gotten--but with no idea whether I'm getting ten hits or a hundred in any given time period.

Our brand new next door neighbors--a woman named Heidi (unless it's Eileen) and her two sons--have locked themselves out. Andy is being very helpful, including climbing around on the fire escape and thus determining that yes, they did lock the kitchen window. My share of the contribution was showing one of the boys why you can't just slide a kitchen knife along and open the door that way, using our door lock as a visual aid.

Oddly, though, I'm feeling much better after talking to them for a bit; a while earlier, I was in a mood of not wanting to talk to anyone, to the point of not calling someone I had a mental to-do of calling this evening. That call has now been made, and a message left about possible plans for tomorrow.
