is when I'll be out of a job here. So much for all the promises about how they'd find me another position at ACM when they finally finished this redesign/whatever of the system I've been working with. Instead, they're outsourcing and the best they can offer me is help with job-hunting and a decent severance package. But not simultaneously: if I find something else by 30 Sept., no severance.
I'm doing nothing for the next few days except grumble and sort of background the question of what I want to do next. Still getting over jet lag, still more than a bit surprised--but glad, I think, that I found out after two delightful weeks in England and Wales, not before. I've been here almost 15 years, done a varied job well, and now I have to decide where I want to go, and figure out how to get there.
And whether to travel a bit more before I start a new job without ACM's generous vacation policy. I will be going to Worldcon, but that's just down to Philly, two vacation days and commuter rail. Besides, I promised Steve Stiles, I promised Geri, and I promised Jo. And it should be fun.
Yes, this is first draft.
