There was a pleasant little party last night to celebrate my partner still having a company: they got the funding they need to keep going, and doing work they like. A few friends, a couple of cats, champagne (and seltzer for me and Kevin), and good food.

In the course of this, I showed everyone my newest tattoo, and showed off the full set to the people there who hadn't seen them. Ellie liked the violets and armband enough that, when I said they were by the same person, she asked for a referral. Sometime soon, I'm going to go with her when she talks to my artist about getting the armband she has in mind.

I woke to a thunderstorm this morning, and it's been wet and rainy all day. When the rain let up for a bit, I put on fresh, dry clothes and went outside to plant bulbs.

Daffodil, crocus, tulip, scylla, and lilies. Or so I'm told. They were being given out free in bags, which listed total contents but didn't explain which are the tulips and which are the daffodils.

Anything that comes up will be a bonus: not because I didn't pay for the flowers, but because I'd thought I'd missed the chance for this year.

I want a real garden. Someplace I can plan, and have a bit of room to work in. Instead, I'm making do with the bit of soil next to an apartment building entrance--short on sunlight--and the bits around a few street trees. But daffodils are better than no daffodils, and crocuses are better than most things.
