But some memorable lines, from books and stories I like. I'm working from memory, so this is more "writing that stuck with me" than favorite books.

Enough. Now I want to start flipping madly through books looking for favorite scenes: Elizabeth Bennett's faceoff with Darcy's aunt, lots of random bits of Le Guin, maybe some Dr. Seuss or something. And I'm not quite sure how Dhalgren snuck in there.

I know all of them, but the only one I feel I deserve points for knowing is the second. And Taviri, whose name only gets used formally, as hers will, of course, as I was when I read it familiar with it being. One of my favourite stories of all time.

I almost wrote "and one ringer", but I had at least three things on that (short) list that might have counted as the ringer. That one, not being an opening line, was one of them.

Well, I could id them all except the 2nd. And I can't parse Jo's second sentence at all though from context I'm assuming it has something to do with the source I can't identify.
