I was a little slower getting out this morning than I'd planned, in part because I turned over and went to sleep another hour at the time I'd meant to get up. I washed, had breakfast and a second cup of tea, and headed out just as it started to snow (around 10:30, having aimed for 10).
I had a good, thorough workout
Hip adduction, 110 pounds, 13, 12, 13. The 13 on the third set was half-cheating: I set the machine narrower for the first rep (carelessly) and the last few (on purpose), so each rep was less work. I seem to be losing ground on this exercise.
Hip abduction, 95 pounds, 3 sets of 12.
Cardio, 33 minutes, top heart rate 163, cruised along between 144 and 156 for most of the half hour. (This was on a different machine than I usually use, and I suspect the higher numbers may be an error in the instrumentation.)
Bench press, 50 pounds, 12 reps, 10+2, 8+4
Seated leg press, 75 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Adjustable row, 100 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Back arch with an exercise ball, 15 reps. (Stopped there because it was too hot in that corner of the gym.)
Triceps pulldown, 30 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Crunches and arches, 3 sets of 15 each. Cat-and-camel, tree.
Bicep curls, 35 pounds, 3 sets of 15
Wrist curls, 2 pounds, 3 sets of 15
The usual stretches
On my way to lunch, I ran into Diane, an ex-coworker, who asked what I'm doing. I told her I'm freelancing, and when she asked who I mentioned the Japanese client and then asked if she needed people. To my surprise, she said she might. I didn't have a card handy, so she asked me to call her,. I have left a message on her voice mail, with both telephone number and email address. This would be useful, if slightly weird.
After lunch, I walked over to Columbus Circle, where reflexes took over: I was getting off the A at 181st Street when I remembered that I'd meant to take the 1 and go to Fairway. Ah, well. I have fresh rye bread, and
cattitude picked up the most urgent of the things I would have gotten at Fairway.
And now the laundry is in.
