There's a problem with my going to Montreal--or anywhere else, really--for New Year's: my mother is coming to New York for New Year's. cattitude suggested that I could try get back while she's here, but Mom is only coming over for ten days. Hmm. If I get back to NY on the 2nd, that would give me three and a half days to fit time with my mother into.

If you're not going to Schenectady you could come for Christmas. Zorinth's dad can sleep in Zorinth's room and you can have the spare bed. (Our celebration of Christmas is very low on religion, but high on food, good company and present giving. Getting to watch Zorinth open presents can be lots of fun, especially this year as he is getting something quite wonderful which he has no idea about.)

There's also an exhibition in the Archaeology museum, on tour from Varna, Bulgaria, which claims to be the oldest worked gold in the world.

One possibility--I need to call my Mom--would be to come up on the 28th, which means I'd get to see Zorinth's dad briefly, and return to NY on the second. That would let me see my mother right after she gets here, and again before she flies home.
