Current word count: 50,164

I figure I'll try to finish this scene, at least, before pasting it together, submitting it to the word-counting software to prove I've done it, and then going on writing.

But I've just written 50,000 words of fiction in 27 days, and some of them are even good. The book isn't close to finished, and it has various inconsistencies that need fixing, but it's real and I can keep going.

Wow! I had no idea if I could do this, or what I was going to write about. I'm still not sure--this wasn't supposed to be nearly so cozy a book, and the main characters surprised me by falling in love, and major plot threads are still hanging--but wow.

UPDATE: When I put it all together, the word count came up slightly short, so I had to write a few more paragraphs before I talked to their robot. And now:

As I've heard in my writing class, if you knew ahead of time what you were going to write, there would be no need to write.

Congratulations!

well done

How much longer, length-wise, do you think this story is going to take to tell ?

My personal best was 25kwords in 5 days - which was pretty solid first draft, too, it's only expanded to just over 27kwords in the current draft of that thing. Mind you, that was while staying with someone whose host/guest comfort levels were such that she would have been annoyed had I done anything at all to help around the house, so I had really unprecedented levels of nothing else to do.

Wow -- Congrats! And good luck on getting it done; I'd love to read it when it's more complete.

(though...the image src link is broken; you probably want to fix that.)

Woo hoo!

Way to go, you -- and ahead of the holiday weekend, too. Congratulations.

Judging by the good words in your journal, I'm sure a fair number of the good words in your novel are contiguous!

Seriously: Congratulations! Yay!

Congratulations! Let me know when you need beta readers.

Wow! Well done. That's wonderful. If you're looking for first readers when you get it finished and tidied up, just ask.

I think my best speedwise was 22 kwords in a Thursday-Monday weekend, while also generally vaguely looking after Zorinth and making dinner, that's chapters 12-16 of THE KING'S PEACE. And those words are still there, in print, I may have changed a handful of them but that's all. But I have horrible long dry spells in between.

Anyway, 50,000 in 27 days is astonishing, and you deserve chocolate and dancing people and flowers and praise songs.

Good Stuff!

Can we expect to see a note in YAWL as well?

Just think!

You could split it into serialized episodes for your next 25 apa submissions! ;-)

Well done!

Yup, amazing. Definitely the only person I know who's actually done it!!

Yay

maybe someday my november will be laid back enough that I can write a novel in a month.
especially if I'm not doing the simple abundance book stuff anymore.

Congratulations!

50K words in less than a month.
I am in awe.

Congrats! And, yes, do pub some of the choice bits to Turbo!
