A 3300-word chunk today, but that incorporates one of the two "sometime later in the story" chunks, and I suspect I can't use the other, given developments to date. Revised cumulative word count, 42,365.
I need to put in more time on the paid editing project, though: not only is it paid work, but the deadline is earlier.
I also had a nice chat with my mother this afternoon, in which I concluded that I don't especially want silver candlesticks or anything similar (after a burglary, she has an insurance settlement in the form of a credit at a silver shop, and is feeling generous), which I wouldn't wear, probably wouldn't use, and almost certainly wouldn't polish. I gave her gardening advice, and listened to the latest update on Simon (her husband), which isn't as bad as it might be, that being the best that's likely barring some kind of medical breakthrough. Fortunately, the dementia et cetera is on the other side of his family, not the side we're related to him through, so it's painful for Mom but without the added pain of expecting to go through it herself.
