The good news is that I've got 5300 or so words already, and only about two dozen of them are "Woof". That's about 1/9 of the goal--but it doesn't feel much like a ninth of a novel, at the instant. Revise later.
The problem is that I don't have any clear idea of where this is all going, or what the chapter with the dog in it has to do with what else has taken place so far. Or what happens next in that chapter, for that matter. Sometimes I envy people with outlines--but if I'd waited to write one of those, I wouldn't have started.
I hope sitting down with
roadnotes will help--it did last weekend.
