I left Rafiq a message last evening, and he called me back late this morning. His first message mentioned that I had sent a resume for a job as a math editor, and that they had a possible freelance project, so I assumed it was something similar.

Today, he asked if I could meet with him tomorrow, to which I said yes, and then whether I could bring writing samples. I explained that I have writing samples, but no mathematical ones. That's okay--it turns out that this job is neither editing nor mathematical, they need writers for a history project. I can do that: it says right on my resume that I have a degree in history. I mentioned that I've been working on a collaborative project (that's the Wikipedia), and asked about samples I hadn't done all the writing on. Yes, that's fine. So they're getting an article on Louis Riel, along with my Salon article and some or all of the following: a few pieces from Epinions, the rassef faq, a fanzine article about a nostalgic/historic train ride, my LiveJournal
entry about helping someone who'd been mugged, another Wikipedia piece (this one on thylacines), and anything else I remember/find tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm seeing him at 1:00.
