I had to hurry out this morning, because I'd slept late and [livejournal.com profile] cattitude had an appointment with his trainer, but I managed to shower, dress, have a cup of tea and some breakfast, and pack the essentials for exercise.

Hip adduction, 100 pounds, 3 sets of 15 reps; abduction, 90 pounds, 3 sets of 15. No need to cheat this time. At this rate, I can up the weight soon.

Cardio, 33 minutes of bike at level 8, heart rate in the 136-145 range; as usual, it took about ten minutes to get it up to where it would then mostly stay.

Bench press, 45 pounds: 1st set, 15 reps, second, 12+3, third, 11 (the last few partial and iffy) + 7.
Leg curl, 2 sets of 15 at 60 pounds, then one set at 55.
Row, 90 pounds, 3 sets of 15; much smoother than on Wednesday.

Triceps pull-down: bar handle, 70 pounds for 15 reps; rope handle, 45 pounds for 15 reps; back to bar, 80 pounds for 15 reps!

Over to the mat. The yoga one-leg balancing thing, getting easier; I only needed the wall for occasional help. Three sets each of crunches and back arches (15 reps per set).

Bicep curls, 10 pounds in each hand, 3 sets of 15.

A thorough set of stretches on the (Precor) stretch machine.

Leg extension, one leg at a time. 15 pounds, 3 sets of 15 reps on each leg, alternating (6 sets total).

A good workout; I'm pleased. Then I took the train down to the West Village for lunch, and happened into the delightful sunshower I wrote about in my previous entry.

After lunch, I went over to Union Square: peaches, strawberries, and tomatoes at the Greenmarket. Someone asked about yellow tomatoes, so I explained, briefly, as I selected tomatoes, both red and yellow. No shisu plums, and no carrots I liked. I don't know what's wrong with the carrot crop right now, but the ones at the supermarket haven't been any good, and the ones at the Greenmarket were incredibly skinny. Barnes and Noble, a book for the alt-poly swap, and The Uncollected Tiptree for myself. Paragon Sporting Goods for weight-lifting gloves. I tried on three different sizes of the less expensive brand, none of which fit; the more expensive ones did. I considered buying some weights, but decided it could wait for another day, when my backpack wasn't already stuffed with expensive fruit; this also gives me more time to sort out what weights I want. Five pounds might be too easy, ten may be too difficult, and I don't know what Andy would want. I'm thinking in terms of doing bicep curls in odd moments at home, not of carrying them around while walking.
