Bruce and I talked on Wednesday, discussing what the job would involve. It looks cool: I get to find out all sorts of cool things, and look for the answers for lots of questions. He asked me to think about it and then quote a rate.

I emailed him a little while ago, stating an hourly rate and how many hours I'd likely be able to give. The rate I quoted includes him/this job getting first priority on my work hours, so the constraints are in terms of how much energy I have, and the need to do boring mundane things like laundry and slightly less boring mundane things like going to the gym. Which still isn't near home--but is moderately close to both the big library with the lions and Mid-Manhattan, and if I need to do research at the Business and Technology library, my gym has a branch practically next door.

(When I was working for the boring legal publisher, it was understood that I could and would duck out as necessary if I had an interview for a better/permanent job.
