At the moment, I'm annoyed at a government agency.

Nothing weird about that--except that this is an agency I've never had any dealings with, and am not trying to have any dealings with.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has (this is part of a long-running mess) done so badly with data security that a judge told them to take down all their Web sites. But not just BIA: the whole Department of the Interior, which includes a lot of things besides Indian Affairs. I just wanted to see whether the ferries to the Statue of Liberty are running again. The National Parks Service has replaced the relevant Web page with one explaining that, due to conditions outside their agency, their Web site is down until further notice, and here are phone numbers for a few (very few) parks that take reservations.

Granted, lots of other people--the ones whose money at BIA this is actually about, in particular--are more annoyed, and with more reason. But does mismanagement, even possible criminal activity, at BIA have to mean taking down basic information about parks?
