I just installed an ftp server on my PC.
This is a silly workaround, because the tape backup software decided to fail, with incoherent error messages. And Microsoft's networking stuff didn't work, no matter how often we changed things in the control panels and rebooted.
So, I went online, downloaded an ftp server, and Andy ftp'd the files I care most about to his PC.
But I have an ftp server, bright and shiny freeware, complete with a defined root and support for anonymous ftp.
Geeks are us.
