A pollster called last night. I wasn't doing anything else, so I told Andy I'd talk to them.

The man introduced himself, and asked if I was planning to vote in the Democratic primary. I said yes. He started to ask another question, then hesitated. I heard background noise. He apologized, and asked me to hold on a minute.

At that point, I said "They must have given you a script. Take a deep breath, and find your place." He did, and asked who I was going to vote for for Public Advocate. Then he thanked me for my patience.

The odd thing is, I suspect I'd intended something harsher after "They must have given you a script," but the part of me that solves problems took over from the sarcastic part: if there's a script, then you can find your place and go on.

I'm also more than a little startled that someone has hired a polling firm to ask only about the primary for public advocate; they didn't want to know about mayor, or anything else on the ballot.
