I hadn't realized the Dreamwidth importer would import comments on existing entries; I have just asked it to do that, and will try to remember to do so at least once a month.

My current plan is to keep cross-posting a lot of things from DW to Livejournal, but probably not all the friends-locked/filtered posts. This is an attempt to balance between wanting to keep up with my friends who are only on LJ, and having something vaguely resembling information security.

Does it import security levels, for posts that are locked to a filter, even if that filter doesn't exist on DW?

It says it imports the filters with the comments, but I haven't checked the results.

Wait, you mean it can scoop up comments on entries that were crossposted and add them to DW entries?

My cobbled solution is going to be to write my entry on DW, cut the text, crosspost that, then edit the entry on DW to paste the text back in without crossposting.

Result: Blank LJ post except for footer linking to DW entry that I've given OpenID access to LJ friends on.

It's not pretty, but it'll do exactly what I want.
