This morning I went to a rally against hate in Boston, on the steps of the Massachusetts State House. I woke up with no particular plans, found an article about the planned rally on a news website, and decided I should go.

This was very establishment: speakers included the state Attorney General and the mayor of Boston. On the other hand, that feels fitting when the Attorney General's speech is partly about the hate crimes hotline her office set up last week, which has already received hundreds of calls.

I don't know how much good this will do, but I also don't know how much good calling my Congresswoman to thank her for opposing one of Trump's proposed nominees will do. It's a thing I can do.

It was a chilly morning, but there are going to be a lot of chilly mornings ahead, and I'm going to do what I can until it gets too cold to be safe for me (which is mostly about cold air in my lungs; I have a good parka and silk long underwear).

Thank you very much indeed for doing this. I am fairly convinced that establishment rallies are one plank of resistance.

(This morning I was in tears over this image from a protest in New York; I don't know why someone has an embroidered banner with mir veln zey iberlebn on it, but I am heartened they're out on the streets waving it.)

I was sad not to be able to go due to work, so thank you for going.

I'm really glad you went.

And I need to send our Senator a holiday card of support (MA is purpler than it sometimes seems out here, so no support is wasted)

Are you in Katherine Clark's district? She's fabulous, and deserves thanks too. She's working really aggressively on the conflict of interest and racist attorney general problems. (I know there are so very many...but those are big.)
