I told the PT that my left shoulder--not the one we're treating--had been hurting yesterday, perhaps after I tried too hard to protect the right shoulder--but was okay this morning.

We did the stretches I've been doing, with particular attention to the position on one of them, and I asked to be shown Monday's new exercise again. She sent me home with a printed diagram of what I'm doing, in case I forget again. She also had me try a few isometric exercises, as a first step toward strengthening the shoulder, and she did the traction, ultrasound, and ice massage. The isometrics aren't part of my homework, she's waiting until next session so I can report back on whether they caused any problems. (I am not doing any of my usual upper-body exercises, definitely including the shoulder-strengthening one I got from my previous round of PT some years ago.)

I realized that part of why I walk out of there feeling like I haven't done that much is that the sessions end with the ultrasound and ice massage, both of which consist of me just lying on my back while someone else does things.

She thinks twice a week is enough, so I won't be going back Friday; I have an appointment for next Monday, and then one for ten days later, after I spend a week in Boston.
