I visited
roadnotes (Velma) in the hospital again today. When I got there, they were about to take her downstairs for a CAT scan (to see how/how quickly she's healing after the surgery), so I went and sat in the lobby for a while.
Overall, she seems to be doing better than a couple of days ago, which in turn was better than a few days before that. Soren confirms my feeling that the general trend is upward, if not as rapidly as we might like.
Soren's parents were there for part of my visit. Along with some discussion of matters medical, there was general pleasant conversation about things like the Woodland Park Zoo. Velma can now eat anything she wants/can get people to bring her, including chicken salad (courtesy of Soren's parents) and dark chocolate. (I should call Mark Varsano.)
If the connections work well, taking the 9 to the I-90/Rainier Freeway Station to get the 550 is quicker than the 3/4, despite the multiple ramps up from the 9 bus stop at street level. (I did this partly to explore, since I hadn't previously connected to/from the 550 there and wasn't sure how it was laid out.)
I worked out some this morning, less than I might have had my knees been happy (and I took two Advil before I started). One of the weight pins in the dual pulley machine is bent, and I told the building office. They said they wished they'd known two days ago, when they had the quarterly maintenance visit, but would see what they could do.
Pegasus Coffee had a good, moist pumpkin bread, but I was unimpressed with their loose Assam tea. Back to Irish breakfast next time, and I'll keep ordering the Assam from McNulty's, in Greenwich Village. The Irish breakfast was better than the boring Starbucks "Awake" tea, and slightly cheaper, and I'd rather support a small business.
OK, the gym numbers:
Biceps curls 15# each 2x15
Squats 2x15
Lat pulldowns 45# 12 each foot, 7 each
Chest press 60# 2x12
Leg curls 60# 2x12
Row 60# 12, 55# 12
(I may try some lower-body and core stuff tomorrow.)
