Two workouts, one post:

I did a longish and satisfying workout on Tuesday, and then went into Seattle for lunch. That included a few blocks up and down hill in Chinatown, and then the steep bit of Pine Street down from Westlake Center to Pike Place Market. (I went back uphill on Pike, which isn't as steep.) All good, except my calves were sore by late afternoon, I think from the combination of three sets of calf exercises and the hills.

I just did a smaller workout, with about half the different exercises I did on Tuesday (and fewer of the calf raises), and may do some of the rest tomorrow. It looks more efficient to do fewer big workouts, but I suspect is harder on my body. Doing a few crunches at a time in the apartment, in between the workouts that include three sets of 15, seems to have stopped my abs from hurting after those workouts. I'd need to get one of those big exercise balls to do the calf raises in the apartment; I'm not sure how handy it would be to store between uses. (The local Sports Authority only has 55 cm and larger balls; I've been using a 55-cm ball in the building gym, but prefer 45 anyhow, and of course a smaller object would be easier to store.

Tuesday (6/3) workout:

Squats 3x15
Calf raise 3x15
Biceps curls 10 pounds each hand 2x20
Crunches 3x15

Triceps curls 22.5 pounds 2x12
Lat pulldown 40 pounds 2x12, 2x6
Chest press 55 pounds 2x12
Pushups 2x12
Leg curls 60 pounds 2x12
Row 55 pounds 12, 9

And today's (6/5):

Squats 3x15
Calf raises 2x15
Biceps curls 15 pounds each, standing, 10; 10 pounds each, sitting on ball (the usual way I do them), 15
Lat pulldown 40 pounds 12 each, 6 each
Row 55 pounds 12, 60 pounds 6
Leg curls 60 pounds 2x12
Pushups 6, stopped because right shoulder hurt

I believe it would fit in the closet of the spare bedroom.
