The last time I saw my trainer, in December, we agreed that I would be seeing her this evening, Thursday evening at my usual time, and Tuesday and Thursday of next week, to make up for missing two weeks' sessions, and that I would call or text her to remind her for today. (I normally see her Thursdays, so a reminder for the less-usual day makes sense.)
I called her yesterday afternoon, got her voicemail, and left a message: "Are we still on for tomorrow? Please call me." She didn't, and around 3:00 this afternoon I called again. This time I got her, sounding a bit out of it. She said she'd never gotten my message (which, from how surprised she sounded, I believe), and that she's sick and still in California, because she extended her vacation due to a family emergency and then got sick.
So I asked when she's going to be back, and she said Friday. We're tentatively on for next Tuesday as well as Thursday, and I asked her to call me when she gets back from California. I considered heading to the gym immediately, and grabbing tea downtown right before my workout. Then I decided to make tea here first. Then I checked my calendar and decided to go to the gym tomorrow morning and Friday morning, which will avoid the early January crowding and give me slightly longer to finish getting over a virus.
It's a pretty good plan. But if I'd had more notice, I'd have exercised this morning and either Thursday or Friday morning (I didn't get to the gym at all last week, and am feeling mostly recovered). More to the point, I started wondering when Emilie was going to call me about Thursday, which she should have thought of since I have a standing appointment for 6:15 p.m. Thursday unless one of us cancels or we jointly agree to change it.

Part of why I am grumpy about this is that I have already paid for these sessions (though Emilie hasn't been paid for them, and won't be until she trains me and I sign the form saying so).
