The good news is that, since I was willing to turn on Javascript, I was able to certify for unemployment benefits quickly and easily, without the endless busy signal of calling the dial-a-robot early in the week.

The bad news is that to find out where my check for the week of August 5 is, I have to go to the dial-a-robot system (they call it "telservice", but it's longer on distance than on service). And that's not reachable early in the week. I suspect this is connected to the "but you said you worked one whole day the previous week, what happened to that job" form they sent me, which I sent back and will now be sent along to annoy the long-suffering freelance employer, who is trying to get his own stuff done, not deal with an bureaucracy a long way away.

(This post is largely a reminder to myself to call them, and a note of which week I'm asking about.)
