From there, I went to the gym and saw Emilie.
Cardio, 13 minutes, top heart rate 137
Rolled out IT band
Hamstring bridge, 4 sets of 9
Ab work (on small ball), 3 sets of 10
Squats, 3 sets of 15
Calf raises, 3 sets of 15
Opposite arm/leg, 12 pairs
A nice game of catch standing on the foam roller; partway through Emilie noted that I was moving my head to follow the moving ball (rather than just my eyes), which is trickier in balance terms; she'd been moving around to encourage that, but hadn't told me to.
Standing on the half roller
Lunges, 2 sets of {10 with each foot forward}
On balance platform:
Lat pulldown (round platform), 55 pounds, 2 sets of 12; one foot, 8 each
Hug a tree, 25 pounds, 3 sets of 12; Emilie moved the platform forward a bit from where we had had it.
Back, 25 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Triceps curl, 25 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Then I showered, and left the gym. I felt it start to rain as I was walking toward Eighth Avenue under a construction shed; the rain got heavy fast enough that I took refuge in a Starbucks until it went from scary amounts of lightning and very loud heavy rain to something that would be reasonable with an umbrella. I checked the weather forecast while sipping my hot chocolate, and found a severe thunderstorm warning, with something about winds of up to 70 mph. A good time to stay put.
Between the gym, stairs at the cafe, and subway stuff (partly to dodge a thunderstorm) I did more stairs than was really good for my knees, and will need to be careful tomorrow.
