redbird: me with purple hair (purple)

I had an appointment for a filling at 10 this morning, and made a point of stopping for a filling second breakfast beforehand. I went to Amy's Bread, asked for my stuff "for here," and then saw that there were no tables free. Before I could gather my tea and rolls and leave, someone asked if I would like to share her table. I accepted, and we had a nice conversation, from "I don't live around here, but I used to work in the neighborhood, and once you find a good dentist it's worth keeping him" and a couple of questions about my tattoos to her career and some family stuff, and how much stability we each want. I'm the settled-in sort; she said that she has no tattoos, though she admires them on other people, because she keeps wanting to change things. It sounded as though I'd given her a useful idea, or at least phrasing, on some job/contract stuff, and I had a nice half hour before walking two blocks south to the dentist. (She told me her name is Hattie, and that she lives in Worldwide Plaza, which is a couple of blocks from where we were sitting.)

The dentistry itself was straightforward. I was done around 10:30, and decided that since I was in the area anyway, I'd go to the gym, rather than down to the West Village for more tea that I may not need yet. I don't manage three times/week very often these days, so that feels like an accomplishment.

No cardio, because I didn't want to need lots of water while one side of my mouth was still numb. Other than that, I tried not to repeat most of the exercises I'd done yesterday morning, which meant doing more exercises that I only do occasionally.

Rolled out IT band, etc.
Ab work, feet on ball 15; leaning backwards on ball, 10, somewhat stressful and I think I will get a trainer's help before trying that again; feet up again, another 15
Balance work, first lying on the foam roller, then standing on the half roller (shoes on this time), including moving the foot that's off the ground, and a little bit with my eyes closed: just standing there gets boring quickly once it's working.

Squats leaning on ball, 2 sets of 15
Calf raises leaning on ball, 2 sets of 15
"Flight" back exercise, 2 sets of 10
Adjustable row sitting on ball, 40 pounds, 3 sets of 12
Glute machine, 42.5 pounds, 2 sets of {12 with each foot}
Elbow PT exercises, 2 pound weight, did both hands this time (though fewer with the right hand, once I realized that doing them simultaneously wasn't great because I need to pay attention to form)
Vertical chest press, 50 pounds, 12, 9
Stretches

As I had hoped, the workout used enough time for the anesthetic to wear off partway, and I stopped for a bit of mushroom-barley soup on the way home, eating it carefully. A sandwich might have been easier, but I wanted soup. Yay for air conditioning.
