It's still hot, though not as bad as a couple of days ago, and the fire department has opened hydrants (with sprinkler caps), including one between the A train station and my house. I saw it on the way home, dropped my pack (which contained two library books) on the pavement, and walked through the water briefly. I wasn't soaked, but cool and damp enough to make the walk home pleasant.
