I have ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses. I walked into the place where I got my current pair of regular glasses, and showed the saleswoman my non-prescription sunglasses, which don't fit over the snazzy regular bifocals. She pulled out several frames that she thought might fit under them, and two pairs of sunglasses in that general style—blocking light from the side. One of those fit pretty well, and I decided that actual sunglasses without the need to nest were a higher priority than a spare pair of glasses, which would have been a side effect of doing it the other way. (My prescription being what it is, getting both would have been an unreasonable expense.) I should have the new glasses in 7-10 business days, which will be nice. (Either way would have meant carrying sunglasses around with me at least some of the time; this way I don't also have to decide in the morning which pair of glasses to wear indoors.)
Cardio, 30 minutes, top heart rate 154
Rolled out IT band etc.
Hamstring bridge, 4 sets of 9
Emilie was surprised and dismayed at the news of my layoff, but offered to put the word out with people she knows; I need to remind her what sort of work I'm looking for. She was also relieved that this doesn't mean we'll be taking a break; I'd bought some more training sessions before I was laid off, which are officially non-refundable, and things aren't tight enough that I'm going to try pushing on that.
Stuff with Emilie:
Ab work on small ball, 3 sets of 10
Squats, 2 sets of 15
Calf raises, 2 sets of 15. She had to correct my positioning on these and on the stretches I do after each set, something I usually get right, or almost right, without conscious thought. No surprise that there's random stress right now.
Stood on physio ball and played catch a while, which went quite smoothly.
Standing on balance platform (using a different machine with rather different weight numbers, set at "4" throughout):
Lat pulldown, 3 sets of 12
Hug a tree (on solid floor), 2 sets of 12 (I think)
Back, 3 sets of 12
Triceps, 3 sets of 12 (and I forgot to do the stretches for that)
Lat pulldown again, so I could show her my new trick, of doing it on one foot, 4 on each leg, and again the right leg was easier/steadier than the left. She was pleased, and is talking about doing more things of that sort.
Biceps curls on the blue squishy thing, 10 pounds each hand, 3 sets of 15
Extending opposite arms and legs from a position on hands and knees, several
