I got there very early (largely because it was so hot that we took the shortest route through the park), so I did some biceps curls (3 sets of 15; 10 pounds each hand for the first, then 8 left and 10 right for the other 2), and walked on a treadmill for a bit. I like the stationery bike better, qua cardio, but walking helps my menstrual cramps and biking doesn't seem to.
Yoga started with the instructor going off to see about getting the air conditioning adjusted so we wouldn't freeze. Then she got us into the right mood, talking enough about being in the moment and sacred space that I started mentally translating into neopagan terms. Grounded and centered, we then did all sorts of stretches. The instructor was good about "don't do this one if it's difficult" and suggesting that those of us who have trouble with a particular balancing pose use a wall for help.
We ran slightly over the scheduled time, so she asked us to "dress" (meaning put our shoes and socks back on) outside, so the next class could start. I just walked barefoot back to the locker room, took a very quick shower, and headed down to Revival for the rec.arts.sf.fandom social. A reasonable crowd, including
aiglet and
agrumer, along with several other newsgroup regulars and a few less-so; I'd hoped to see
roadnotes and
baldanders, though.
I called Andy (
cattitude) around 8:30, and offered to come home for dinner; he liked that idea, so I did. (Several other people had already left by then, and he was out late last night gaming.)
We spent dinner discussing yoga and other gym things, noting how weird it is that we both have such to discuss, and then looking up how big weasels and polecats get.
