I work, I go to the gym, I hang out with
cattitude and play Scrabble, I even took a few hours of alone time over the weekend. And spring continues to tease us: it's cold again, but the forsythia are slowly opening.
Last Thursday I went to the gym and worked with Emilie; a reasonable session, nothing noteworthy, for good or ill, except that I did well with the foam roller (and half roller) balance stuff.
Today, a workout by myself, shorter than it might have been because I worked slightly late tidying something up. (The deadline isn't for half a month, but I didn't want to leave in mid-section, because it's easier to finish a thought.) And I was less careful about joints than I should be.
Cardio, 5:36 on a bike I don't like, and wobbling slightly, top heart rate 100, barest warmup
Chest press, 50 pounds, 2 sets of 12
Squats with ball, 2 sets of 15
Calf raise with ball, 2 sets of 15
Ab work on ball, feet against wall, 10, 6; the first set went pretty smoothly with regard to shoulder and positioning; the second, less so, which is why I stopped at six
Stood on foam roller, including turning my head a little to each side, and a brief moment with my eyes closed
Hamstring bridge, 4 sets of 8
"Flight" back exercise, 10, 6
Biceps curls on ball, 10 pounds each hand: right only, 20; both hands, 20. I went, got the weights, and my left wrist hurt as I sat down on the ball. So, one set right-hand only. And then I tried again, and the wrist seemed better, so I did the set with both hands; this was probably not prudent. (The wrist is a very old injury, a chipped bone that twinges now and then.)
Stretches
Also, on the weekend I did some crunches, just lying on the mat, and two sets of the hamstring bridge, in addition to the mix of rotator cuff stretches and elastic strengthening exercises. And one set of 10 of the "pull the elastic band apart" shoulder exercise. (Assume a certain amount of exercise at home, which I don't usually bother to write up, unless I'm ill or have decided they aren't compatible with a rest day.)
