On the basis of that every ten years thing, counting backwards from this week, it seems that I have lived in two places in my life: this Manhattan apartment, and the house in Queens I grew up in.

I'm a pretty settled sort of hobbit, but not quite that settled: I've actually lived in four different places in Queens, and an apartment in New Haven, even if we don't count the dorms or the few months cattitude and I were in a sublet before we moved into our current address. It just happens that I moved in 1965, 1968, fall of 1981, 1986, and 1987.

Have the IDs (numbers, letters, names) on the buses you take changed?

Subways more than buses, but yes. I used to take the E and 7 mostly, and sometimes the N; then the R; and now it's primarily the A, sometimes the 1 or D, and the N or R to get to the gym. Or lots of other things now and then; those are the trains to work now, and previously to school. (I took the subway to high school.)

So now I'm curious about what took you to New Haven, and when you were there. I lived in New Haven 1978-9, 1980-3, 1992-5.
