The hard part is getting to the gym.

Once I'm there, I do a reasonable selection of exercises, and even enjoy some of them. But I can come up with an amazing number of distractions rather than go.

It's not far. Four blocks from my office, in fact. But I'll dither, or play solitaire on the computer, and then conclude that I'm too tired, and go home instead.

But I got there today. Lunch with Velma, a pleasant wander around the Village, and then I got on the train and went uptown and to the gym. Assorted weight machines, and cardio stuff.

On the way out, I was talking to someone else who had just finished his workout, and who agreed with me that the hard part is getting ourselves there, not doing the workout once we're inside.

The hard part for me is my dislike of crowds. When I lived in the east village and had access to a 24-hour gym, I was very good at going to the gym. Every night, generally around 2AM. It was great. But I hate going during the day and vying for the bikes.

Velma and I both want to go to the gym, though, and I think that when we have found an apartment it will be easier for me to go the gym if I have someone to make a habit of going to the gym with.

Procrastination

Anti-procrastination, for me, seems to be a zen thing: if I don't think too long, try too hard, nor worry to much, but just form the idea, and then act when the time is right.

If only...
