Is there any way to get rid of those new Facebook links on the LJ comment pages?
I'm seeing them on other people's journals, including those of people who I am fairly sure don't even have facebook accounts.
[I can set all comments to come only to Dreamwidth rather than LJ, but that won't help me with seeing this garbage on my friends' journal entries.]
ETA: The "options" link offers to post all entries to facebook and/or twitter automatically; there is no option to turn the thing off so I won't keep seeing it.
ETA 2: It now seems that if I don't turn it on, I won't see it on my own entries (thank you, lj user="sbisson site="livejournal.com">. What's not clear is whether, if someone wanted to cross-post their public entries, locked ones would be exposed to deliberate or accidental repost by commenters.
And at least last night, I was seeing those links on the entries of people who I don't think had turned them on.

They're meant for you to use with your own Facebook, rather than the journal owner. Assuming you have one, and LJ merrily assumes that you might someday!

Agreed that this very annoying behavior on LJ's part. I do have a Facebook account, but as it has my real name on it I'm quite careful to keep it separate from my LJ. And I shudder to imagine the disjointed sort of conversations that would result from crossposting random comments!

There are two new features that turned on overnight. One lets users log in using Facebook (like openID) for commenting. The other updates the old Facebook posting tool with the ability to send comments as well as posts.
You can make sure that comments can't be sent to Facebook using this page: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/?cat=extensions
(Your account is set up not to do it). See http://news.livejournal.com/129190.html for more details.

So probably not reason to stop making locked posts here, but still irritating, and still LJ's patented "we're not going to answer your worried questions in response to our unclear news posts," (in this case the reassurance is in the new FAQ, but often they just don't answer).
