[livejournal.com profile] cattitude and I both woke up early today, so we went for a walk in the park while it was still relatively cool. That was nice: swallows and dragonflies and a turtle (maybe two) and the park is looking reasonably green for the moment.

Around 11, I made us some matzoh meal latkes for an early lunch, and then headed downtown to the gym. A good, solid workout: cardio, some weights, a little mat stuff, almost none of the things Emily has taught me because I did a lot of them at home on Saturday.

From there, I went to my aunt's house, for a pleasant afternoon with her and my mother (and my aunt's husband and mother-in-law, but they weren't sitting with us as much and tend to be very quiet). Good conversation: no deep revelations, but I wasn't looking for any. I told her a bit more, and my aunt a bit, about the stuff with the trainer, and how it's working (pretty well) and did my best to explain the difference between a personal trainer and a physical therapist, but noted that I'm not sure what education a trainer needs. In a couple of days, Mom will be heading off for the next bit of her trip; I'll likely be seeing her next in November, which is why we have just gotten together three times in seven days.

Cardio, 6:15, top heart rate 129 (minimal warmup, trying not to strain the knees)
Chest press, 50 pounds, 2 sets of 12
Calf raise, 70 pounds, 17; 50 pounds, 15
Wrist curl, 30 pounds, 15; 25 pounds, 15
Balance ~fly, 50 pounds, 2 sets of {15 with each foot forward}
Cross-body pull, 35 pounds, 15 with each hand

Crunches, 30
Back arches, 17
Tree, 5 sets of {3 on each leg}
1/2 roller, a bunch of balancing, including a set of stretches reaching behind my body, balance lateral raise, 2.5 pounds each hand, 15, and some gentle squats (8?)
Biceps curls sitting on ball, 10 pounds each hand, 20; on a normal bench, 3 (shifted because my back started to hurt, but the bench wasn't any better than the ball)

Hip adduction, 85 pounds, 2 sets of 13
Hip abduction, 60 pounds, 13
Row on exercise ball, 25 pounds, 2 sets of 15
Stretches, including the quadriceps stretch (!)

I hadn't done the hip exercises in a while, so dropped the weights a bit; I think they went well, though there was a little twinging on my walk home tonight.

I'll bet that you and [livejournal.com profile] maryread could discuss some of the differences between PT and a personal trainer, seeing as how her offspring is working towards that very thing.
