My mother is visiting from England, staying with my aunt as usual. She called me this morning as I was walking through the park, and suggested lunch. So we got together, ate Japanese food, and talked. (We had to send back a yellowtail roll that they made spicy despite my not ordering it that way, but the replacement roll was fine, as was the eel and the beef negimaki.) She is also impressed with me doing this proprioception/balance stuff with Emilie. (Yes, it's difficult. I think I've been avoiding saying that over here, for fear of scaring myself off.)

We will probably get together another time or two before she leaves for Dallas (where my brother lives), but left the details open for now. She plans to get to New York about four times a year from now on (now that she doesn't have to work around taking care of Simon).

I went to the gym after work. I'm not sure what counts as a "normal" workout anymore.

Cardio, 10:30, top heart rate 122
Chest press, 50 pounds, 12, 10
Leg press, 140 pounds, 4--tentative, seeing if it was a good idea, I should probably have stopped at 3, or not even tried.
Balance ~fly, 50 pounds, 2 sets of {15 with each leg forward}
Balance work on the foam roller, several, some with both arms in the air, went pretty well
Hamstring bridge, 5 (holding for 20-40 seconds each time)

Balancing on half roller (shod)
Crunches, 2 sets of 30
Back arches, 17, 5
Biceps curls sitting on an exercise ball, 10 pounds each hand, 2 sets of 20
Balance lateral raise on half roller instead of that odd hemisphere, because I wanted to make the foam roller a little more interesting, 2.5 pounds each hand, 2 sets of 15
A little other play on the half roller, including bending my knees a little and then straightening
Tried a variation on rowing on the ball, using an orange elastic with handles, ten reps

A normal workout is one perpendicular to the tangent plane. *hug* So your hard work with Emilie, and the related homework, is making all your workouts more normal. Right?
