That, and comments on it, were what prompted this: I don't think Spirit is homesick. Tired, maybe, or frustrated at how much is left to be done, but not homesick: she is home.

Indeed. She's right where she was meant to be, and still working her heart out. (I can't help it, the rovers have been so utterly anthropomorphized for me that I'll never be able to think of them as anything but "she.")
