I just bought a year's worth of paid time at Dreamwidth, taking advantage of the discount rate (which is good until November 1st, and no, I don't know if that means ending at midnight Saturday or midnight Sunday, nor what time zone it is).

No, I'm not abandoning LiveJournal. There's still a lot more conversation on LJ than on DW. And I read and comment on other blogs, and I'm even still on Usenet.

USENET! Wowie zowie. Haven't checked in there except via Google for three or four years. What clients have effective-enough-spam-filters to take away the drudgery?

Agent has tolerable killfiles, and I'm using the server at news.individual.net, which has good spam filters. (My ISP, Panix, also does, but I can't get Agent to work with Panix since I have DSL through Verizon, and I would rather pay $10/year than switch to a shell-based client and ssh in.)
