Eagles!

Well, one eagle.

We went up into the park this morning, and saw a young bald eagle sitting on a tree branch.

At this age, he's almost all black, with a white V on his chest and a bit of white near his shoulder. Still near the hacking box; the other three may have been inside, or off somewhere else.

A bald eagle. In my own local park. In Manhattan. This is extremely cool.

A: They are being (re)introduced. There are occasional reports of bald eagles in the area. (See previous post, headed "Unpacking the birdly goodness".

B: Inwood Hill Park. I'm at the extreme north end of Manhattan Island (last stop on the A train, then walk west and north until you run out of street, and ring my doorbell).
