I've made it to the gym twice this week. This afternoon, I observed that I didn't want to lift weights, but I wanted to have lifted them, and the only way to get that was to go lift them. Thinking about it a bit more while exercising, I realized that I like exercising when I'm doing it. I also like it afterwards, and in the medium-long future tense, such as thinking on Thursday about a workout Friday afternoon. What I don't seem to like is the short-term future, like thinking at 3:00 about lifting weights at 5:30. Still, I persevere.

It was 2/3 of a workout because I was doing crunches, felt a sudden ache in my left shoulder, and remembered that the moment when the right rotator cuff manifested as really bad had been on that very mat, doing crunches. I doubt there's any connection, but nonetheless, I said "stop," got up, and headed straight for the shower (the usual stretch device seemed to also have the possibility of triggering shoulder issues if there are any there, though I hope and expect that there aren't).
