My friends [livejournal.com profile] quility and [livejournal.com profile] jdoggiedogg are planning to move to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Unexpectedly, they sold their house in Iowa quite quickly, and thus need to move sooner than they'd expected. Quility is looking for information on the rental market within a few miles of the U (the relevant point being biking distance): "How little can we hope to pay for a ~2bedroom apartment? When should weget up there to look? is this a same day kind of thing? are therealways places available? what is the average air-speed of a swallow?aaaahhhhh!"

Please, if you have any useful information, especially but not only if you live up there yourself, leave it as a comment to her journal.

I use www.realtor.com for looking at the market in various cities, both property and rental. It's far from perfect, but it does give a skeleton that can be fleshed out in other ways later.

Good to know. Thank you.
Oddly - today was the first day our house no longer showed up on realtor.com. Now it seems I have a new reason to look at the site! :)

Thank you so much for posting this! :) Your friends have already offered more advice than I'd thought would actually be available. I am getting very excited about the community up there. I can't wait to get home from work tonight to actually start looking through the suggestion! :)
